Organic Land

The Ochil Hills

Our 1,000 hectare hillside is totally free from pollution. In global terms, we call that a good start

Visit the Ochil Hills in Perthshire and you'll discover a landscape of outstanding natural beauty. However the real treasure lies far below the surface. Beneath the rolling, heather-clad slopes, the hills are composed of layers of red sandstone and basalt, which form a perfect natural filter for fresh rainwater as it slowly sinks through the rock. As well as filtering out impurities in the water, the 400 million year-old hills add goodness in the form of wholesome minerals.

Since 1979, we've gone to great lengths to protect our catchment area above our natural springs. By protecting the land, we can ensure that our water is pure. So, there are no pesticides, pollution, farming, agricultural spraying, building or habitation allowed anywhere in our catchment area.

The result? Our land is so well looked after it has been certified as organic by the Soil Association, which means our water is as pure as it can possibly be. We are the only major bottled water brand to be able to say this, and it’s a fact of which we are extremely proud.

The purity of our water is everything to us, so we put most of our energy into looking after the area we draw our water from. We’re proud to say that the results of our efforts speak for themselves:

  • We are the UK’s leading brand of bottled water
  • Our sparkling water is the UK's most popular
  • More kids drink Highland Spring than any other bottled water
  • Highland Spring is the number two bottled water brand in the UK
